| When did you first start cheerleading or dancing? |
I first started dancing at the age of 4 at Vicki’s School of Dance in Bossier City, La. I continued with junior high, high school, and collegiate teams. |
| Why did you choose the school you currently attend? |
Louisiana Tech has a very strong sense of family within the university and community, and that really made me feel at home. |
| What is the biggest difference between cheer/dance in college versus high school/all-star? |
I think the biggest difference is the amount of time put in and the recognition received from the university and students. Being on a college team is a big honor and to be able to support your team and get the crowd involved is a great experience! You’re performing for a much bigger audience, so everything you do has to be that much better. |
| Most memorable moment in collegiate cheer/dance career? |
Performing at half-time and in the end zone at the Independence Bowl December 2008. |
| Most embarrassing moment in college career? |
Dancing with our band for half-time to Zorro music…while wearing a cape. |
| Most influential person in your life and why? |
I don’t know that I can pick just one person. Each person in my family has played a big role in molding me into the person I am today. They have always been there for me, and I appreciate everything they have done. |
| My career ambition is: |
To be head of Public Relations for a major company. |
| I live by the following motto: |
If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it. Everything happens for a reason. |
| Favorite course in school and why? |
All of my merchandising classes! They are always fun and help me to learn and understand things I will be doing later on in my career. |
| Least favorite course and why? |
Accounting 201. It’s just not my favorite subject! |
| Favorite tv show: |
Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives |
| Favorite hobbies: |
Shopping, reading, and dancing, of course! |
| Favorite sports team growing up: |
New Orleans Saints |
| Favorite actor and actress? |
Patrick Dempsey and Kate Beckinsale |
| Favorite vacation spot: |
Anywhere near the beach. I love hearing the waves and relaxing in the sun! |
| Favorite holiday and why? |
My favorite holiday is Christmas. Getting together with all of my family and enjoying the time together is the best. Even the little fights here and there! :) |
| Best advice to give someone who wants to be a college cheerleader/dancer: |
You must have your goal in sight and be ready to work hard and do what it takes to get there. It is a lot of time, energy, and dedication put in, but the performances and experiences you get from being on the team is more than worth it! |
| No one knows this about me but… |
I played clarinet in the band in junior high. |
| Is cheerleading/dancing a sport, why or why not? |
Dance is absolutely a sport! We put in hours and hours of practice for a 2-3 minute performance. Dancers must have athletic abilities, be flexible, coordinated, and hard-working to be successful. Anyone who disagrees, come to one of our practices! |
