| When did you first start cheerleading or dancing? |
I started cheering at a very young age. My mother has been my high school coach for the past 29 years and my older sister was a cheerleader too. Therefore, I was basically born into the cheerleading world. I did a backhandspring at the age of 4. I have cheered on little league, middle school, high school, all star, and college cheerleading. |
| Why did you choose the school you currently attend? |
I chose the University of Kentucky but it has been a dream of mine since I was a very young girl. Being a true born Kentucky girl, I attended ballgames and always had a goal of becoming a UK cheerleader. I definitely looked at schools for education, but my heart was set on UK for cheerleading. As I learned how good of an educational school it is this also played a major factor in my choice. |
| What is the biggest difference between cheer/dance in college versus high school/all-star? |
The biggest difference between cheering in high school compared to cheering at the college level to me was the role that we played for our university. We are definitely one of the biggest ambassadors for our university. After attending many alumni events and making so many different connections through traveling and the university it made me realize how important the cheerleading program actually is. |
| Most memorable moment in collegiate cheer/dance career? |
My most memorable moment throughout cheering for UK was definitely winning three national titles! Every year is different to me so I cannot pick one that is most memorable because they are all moments that will stick with me the rest of my life. |
| Most embarrassing moment in college career? |
So I am really country and everyone knows this that meets me! I was on the bus at the NCAA tournament! We were driving down the road and there was a cute dog on the side of the road. I looked and I said Awww I bet his name is Sawyer. Haha!! For some real random reason I thought that that was the dogs name haha. Everyone laughed at me for the rest of my time at UK. It was even the name on the back of my shirt for nationals!! |
| Most influential person in your life and why? |
The most influential person in my life is definitely my sister, Jamie. I do not know where my life would be today without her being such an important person in my life. She is intelligent, a great mother, a very strong person, determined and always willing to help anyone out. |
| My career ambition is: |
I am starting a cheerleading magazine, which will be coming out in January 2010. |

My favorite holiday is Christmas. I love this holiday because I love giving presents to those I love. It’s just a very loving holiday! |
| Best advice to give someone who wants to be a college cheerleader/dancer: |
My best advice I can give someone who wants to cheer in college is work hard. Don’t expect anything! Work on skills to perfection and also be confident! Don’t get down on yourself with competition around! Keep your chin up and smile! |
| No one knows this about me but… |
One of my biggest fears is being chased ha!! I am absolutely terrified of it! |
| Is cheerleading/dancing a sport, why or why not? |
Cheerleading is a competitive activity. I do think that all cheerleaders are true athletes. Therefore, I do not want to consider cheerleading a sport because I do not want more rules that will take away all of the skills we can do now. Safety is something that is very important in cheerleading to keep the sport around! |
