Major: Exercise Science
When did you first start cheerleading or dancing? I always danced for fun growing up and through grade school. I went on to dance on my squad in high school. And now I’m proud to say I’m a Code Red Dancer at BSU!
Why did you choose the school you currently attend? I really enjoyed the campus environment and the size of Ball U. I tried out for the dance team and made it, so that sealed the deal!
What is the biggest difference between cheer/dance in college versus high school/all-star? Dance team is taken a lot more seriously. We also get be part of a lot more activities and I feel like we are a larger symbol of school spirit then we were in high school.
Most memorable moment in collegiate cheer/dance career? Has to be the feeling and rush of adrenaline after finishing my first performance at a game. Nothing can beat being in front of that size crowd.
Most embarrassing moment in college career? Drawing a huge blank right during my dance tryouts.
Most influential person in your life and why? My mother because she’s been through a lot of tough times in her life but is strong and always comes out on top and shines.
My career ambition is: To become a trainer of some sort and maybe work with a sports team.
I live by the following motto: “Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.” –Groucho Marx
Favorite course in school and why? Any science class. I find it all so interesting and I actually think it is really fun!
Least favorite course and why? Math. I’m so bad at it and it confuses me so much!
Favorite tv show: The OC…I wish it was still on TV
Favorite hobbies: Dancing, playing piano, biking, working out
Favorite sports team growing up: GREEN BAY PACKERS!!
Favorite vacation spot: St. Marten
Favorite actor and actress? Seth Rogen and Mischa Barton
Favorite holiday and why? Halloween because I love getting to dress up in stuff that you would never get to on a daily basis.
Best advice to give someone who wants to be a college cheerleader/dancer: It takes a lot of practice and dedication. Work hard and practice hard. But always give every dance your all and leave it out on the floor. That way you’ll never regret not doing your best.
No one knows this about me but… I want to travel all over the world before I get a serious career!
Is cheerleading/dancing a sport, why or why not? Maybe not considered a sport when compared to things like football or basketball. But I definitely think dancers are just as good of athletes. And it takes just as much dedication and practice as any other sport. Maybe more!
