Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders smash hit counter records

Calendar Covergirl Klein is Runaway Hit Queen; Over 2.78 Million Hits Recorded In One Week

Abigail Klein

With a heavy base of Sports Illustrated readers clicking away, second-year Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Abigail Klein amassed an overwhelming number of hits compared to her teammates.

Tobie Percival

No matter what color hair she sports, veteran Tobie Percival is still a favorite among DCC followers.

Jordan Chanley

A year ago, over 1,000 applicants submitted forms for Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders auditions. Only 400 were chosen to attend tryouts and one of them was Jordan Chanley from New Mexico. Chanley quickly became a favorite with the other cheerleaders and fans despite having to work extra hard to gain seasoned dance skills. But it is hard to deny her popularity with sports fans and DCC fanatics, including the hit rankings here. Even though Chanley finished with the 5th highest Index count, her total hit count (3rd highest) proves that fans spent more time surfing individual pages more than one time.

In the calendar week ending Sunday, May 24, 2009, the Cheer Times Web site received over 2.785 million hits, easily establishing new record highs for hits, bandwidth usage, and the number of robots sifting through the system looking for images to download.

Thanks in part to other media outlets, mainly Jimmy Traina at Sports Illustrated and his Hot Clicks column, the Web site averaged over 348,000 hits per day from Monday, May 18, to this past Sunday. But all numbers are slightly diluted since the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders article didn't hit until Tuesday, May 19.

Press releases were sent to the USO, various Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders fan sites, and the DCC organization. Thereafter, other cheer-related sites linked to the article. The total bandwidth for the week was over 63.87GB.

On Tuesday, May 19, almost 23,000 visitors accounted for 1.337 million hits and setting a single day record for most number of hits and bandwidth with 28.92GB.

In terms of content, it wasn't close. Abigail Klein, the 2009 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Swimsuit Calendar covergirl, amassed over 96,000 hits and over 2,500 hits on her Index gallery pages. In a distant second place was 4-year veteran Tobie Percival at nearly 68,000 hits, followed by standout rookie Jordan Chanley at over 65,000.

Rounding out the top six were Brooke Sorenson, followed by rookies Amy Reese and Michelle Keys. The top six were the only ones to garner over 1,000+ hits for gallery Index pages and more than 50,000 total hits.

The rest of the top ten were Cassie Trammel, Meagan Sharp, Brittany Evans, and Kristen Gauthier.

About the Rankings

There is no correlation between the Index and Total hits columns. Index represents the number of times a visitor accesses an individual cheerleader gallery page. Total hits represent the total number of times a visitor accesses a cheerleader's Index gallery page or any page within a gallery.

The statistics are based on activity logs from 5/18/09 to 5/24/09.
